## Who this is for

Foreign residents and visitors who need their own country's embassy (passport, consular help), and anyone who needs a document attested for use in or outside Qatar. This guide does not list individual embassies: each embassy sets its own address, hours and services, so always use your embassy's own website.

## Before you start

- Your country's name and, if possible, your embassy's own official website (search for "<your country> embassy Doha" and check it is the government's site).
- Your passport and Qatar ID (QID), if you are a resident.
- For attestation: the original document, and a note of whether it was issued in Qatar or abroad.

## Steps

1. **Find your embassy's official website**: Embassies publish their own address, opening hours, appointment system and emergency contact. Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has a page for each country showing both Qatar’s embassy there and that country’s embassy in Doha, with addresses, phone numbers and websites. Use our country list to open it, then go to the embassy’s own website for hours and appointments.
2. **Book an appointment where required**: Many embassies work by appointment only. Check your embassy's website for how to book and which documents to bring.
3. **If you need Qatar's missions abroad**: The same Ministry country page lists Qatar’s embassy or consulate in that country, with its address, phone numbers and website. Many Qatari embassies have their own site (for example paris.embassy.qa). The Ministry’s Consular Affairs Department also handles services for Qataris abroad, such as emergency travel documents and protection support.
4. **Attest a document issued in Qatar**: Apply online through the Ministry's e-services portal (sign-in through Tawtheeq) and pay the fees. The Ministry says the application is reviewed within one working day and Qatar Post collects and delivers the documents. Certificates of good conduct and academic certificates from government schools can be attested electronically.
5. **Attest a document issued outside Qatar**: Submit the application and pay the fees online. Per the Ministry, DHL collects the documents, the embassy attests them, the Consular Affairs Department attests them, and DHL delivers them to you.

## Cost

MOFA’s published fee table lists most civil and personal documents at QAR 100 each (see the full attestation guide for the table).

## How long it takes

Qatar Post attestation requests are reviewed within one working day, per the Ministry. No overall timeline is stated for other routes.

## Good to know

- Doha has well over a hundred foreign missions and counts differ by source, so use your own embassy's website for its address and hours.
- Some countries are served by an embassy in a neighbouring country rather than in Doha; your country's foreign ministry website will say.
- Attestation by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not replace any other approval the receiving authority may require.

## Useful numbers and apps

- Ministry of Foreign Affairs (general line): +974 4011 1111
